Virtual 2nd general assembly held to discuss project progress

|   News

On 5 and 6 August the G3P Consortium got together in a General Assembly to discuss the progress of the project. The original plan was that the meeting took place in Zurich, hosted by UZH, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it took place via Zoom. Twenty-five participants from the G3P Consortium got together to get an update on the project and discuss further progress.

There was time allocated to each Work Package (WP) to present its findings and discuss with the rest of the team. Regarding satellite gravity data processing, some of the topics discussed were the G3P accelerometer transplant for GRACE-FO, preparation and status of GRACE and GRACE-FO processing and combination, and the status of GravIS 2.0. Updates on the quantification of storage compartments were also presented, from soil moisture, snow, glaciers, lakes and river water storage. Advances in terms of the groundwater product development and selection of aquifers for product evaluation were shared, and the topic of G3P service preparation was discussed. Finally, the team received an update on sharing and dissemination activities.

Even though the meeting had to be held online, it was very productive, and there was space for everyone to discuss. Action items were revised and created.

In the coming months, the team will keep working mainly in the satellite gravity data processing and the quantification of the storage compartments, an also in the next technical and financial reports.
